Fall 2018 - Week #1 Newsletter

Hello JCYSL Members:

Week #1 is upon us.  It is normal for week #1 to be a little chaotic as folks try to find their games fields and a parking spot.  I have attached a copy of the field layouts.  All of our games are scheduled to be played in the lower part of the park.  Please adjust your travel time to allow time to find a parking spot.

On the subject of parking...there is no parking in the grass.  This includes the grassy areas in the parking lots.  These are not parking spots.  Additionally, do not park along the access road or signed areas.  The only acceptable places to park are designated gravel lots or the back lot on the hill.  Finally, the paved parking sports are designated as handicap spots. Please keep those open for those who need to park in those spots.

The weather forecast is 60% to 70% chance of rain from Friday evening until Sunday.  We do play in the rain.  Coaches are not permitted to cancel games.  JCYSL will only cancel games for unsafe field conditions or severe weather events.  If we decide to cancel the entire day, we will do so by 7AM.  Please check your email, text messages, Facebook, and www.jcysl.org throughout the day as alerts may happen due to changing conditions.  To subscribe to text alerts, please text JCYSLayso14431 to 84483.

Cleat Exchange

Our 2nd Cleat Exchange will take place on Saturday, September 8th.  If you need a pair cleats, please stop by and see what is available.  I highly recommend this for 5U, 6U, and 8U players.  Their feet grow so fast and we have cleats that are in excellent condition.  Don’t need any cleats but want to get rid of some.  Stop on by and drop those off.  Please remember that you do not have to give a pair to take a pair.

AYSO Kids Zone

At any AYSO event (practices, games, meetings, and field day), AYSO operates under the Kids Zone Pledge.  What does that mean?  Simply put Kids Zone is establishing a positive environment for our children to the play the game.  The following rules are in play during these times:

  1. Kids are No. 1.
  2. Fun, not winning is everything.
  3. Fans only cheer, and only coaches coach.
  4. No yelling in anger.
  5. Respect all volunteers (referees, coaches, and board members).
  6. No swearing or abusive behavior.
  7. No alcohol, tobacco or drugs.
  8. No pets allowed at the fields. (Service pets are permitted with credentials.)
  9. No weapons.
  10. Leave no trash behind.
  11. Set a proper example of sportsmanship.

Respectfully,

Matt Byers, JCYSL Regional Commissioner
