Spring Season SUSPENDED- UPDATE

The 2020 Spring season at NVLL has been suspended until further notice due to public health concerns. Please see below for an updated message from our President and Board of Directors:

Dear North Venice Little League Community:

The North Venice Little League Board of Directors hopes that you are all well, and that you are finding ways to acclimate to the many new changes asked of us all.

During this time of social distancing and isolation in the effort to “flatten the curve” and ensure the well-being of our society at large, we wanted to provide you with an update from our local and national governments, as well as Little League International.

Locally, the Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation has suspended all permits, which include Penmar, Mar Vista, and North Venice Little League Fields. Ocean View Farms also has limited access to their facility.

In order to comply with mandates from the Department of Parks and Recreation, North Venice has placed additional locks on each of the cages and fields, which render our facilities inaccessible until further notice.

Globally, Little League International has suspended operations for all 6,500 programs in 84 countries through May 11, 2020. District 25 is monitoring the situation closely, and is waiting for further direction on potential postseason play.

At North Venice Little League, we are looking forward to once again offering baseball on the hilltop! We long for the days of baseball, breakfast burritos, children running and playing, and Southern California sunsets. We can't wait to hear the Little League pledge, the crack of the bat, and the sound of high fives as kids and coaches alike exclaim, “Good Game!"

Until then, we ask that you take a look at the link of resources that the Board has put together for your Little Leaguer to work on in the living room, bedroom, or backyard. We have also partnered with MADE Baseball, which will be offering virtual baseball classes for players of all ages every day at noon. Please click on the link to learn more.

In these challenging and unprecedented times, your patience is appreciated. The Board of Directors will be at the ready to create a robust baseball season for our Community when the time arrives.

While our North Venice Little League experience may be a bit later than expected, it will be just as enjoyable when it arrives. During Opening Day, you heard me say that I would not run for re-election and that I would be stepping down after the June picnic. Given the current circumstances, I would not feel comfortable shifting this job to someone entirely new. My family and I believe in the power of NVLL, and if you will have me, I am committed to remain through the 2020-2021 season to support the league, happily turning the reins over to new leadership in June of 2021.

Finally, if you are a family in our Community who is in need of assistance, please reach out to myself or one of our board members. We are North Venice Strong, and we will find ways to support you. Please know your needs will be kept confidential.

With respect, and hoping all are safe and in good health:

Tyrone Powell

President, North Venice Little League
