Dear North Venice Little League Community:

The NVLL Board of Directors hopes today that your family is safe, well, and persevering through these challenging times. We thank you all for your patience as we navigate these uncharted waters together. The Board has continued to meet throughout the COVID-19 shutdown, and we have been working tirelessly to try to figure out a way for NVLL to return to play. Unfortunately, we have been informed by the Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation that we are still not permitted to open the NVLL facility for practice or play, and must remain shut down indefinitely.

Please read the entirety of this email. It is long, but contains important information regarding how we are closing out the 2020 Spring and Fall seasons including registration fee refunds, jersey returns and snack bar buyout refunds.

Refund or Tax-Deductible Donation?
Members of our NVLL community have two choices regarding the refund of registration fees and snack bar buyout.

• First, you may opt to receive the refund as outlined in the Registration Policy and Refunds section below.
• Alternatively, you have the option of donating your registration and snack bar buyout as a tax-deductible donation to NVLL. We encourage you to donate so that we are in a better position to create an amazing experience for our players and their families once we return to play.

We ask that you fill out the following survey to indicate whether you are making a tax-deductible donation, or are requesting a partial refund of your registration fees. We cannot process a donation or refund until you fill out the survey. Refunds will be mailed to your home address on file.

Please note that if you choose not to reply to the survey, we will assume that you are donating your fees to the league. You must respond by Saturday, September 12^th.

Snack Bar Buyout Refund
If you do not choose to donate, we are happy to provide a full refund of Snack Bar Buyouts to the teams that did not already work their week in the snack bar. Unfortunately, if your team was assigned a shift before we closed for the pandemic, we will not be able to offer a refund as your shift has already occurred and those funds were expended to pay for Snack Bar coverage. If you provided a snack bar work deposit check, and your shift was AFTER the closure, we will return it during the uniform drop off days (please see Uniform Deposit section below).

Registration Policy and Refunds
Our stated policy has been that refunds are not available after January 31, 2020. However, we recognize that these are extraordinary circumstances, and our players did not have the opportunity to participate in a full season. As much as we would like to, we cannot provide everyone a full refund. A full refund to all families would cause NVLL to be insolvent, and we would not be able to open again once we have the green light from LA Parks and Recreation. To that end, we are offering a refund of approximately 25% for registration fees, and 100% of snack bar buyout fees as mentioned above. This is the maximum amount we can offer while still maintaining enough capital to start the spring 2021 season. The following outlines our refunds per division:

Please know that in preparation for the 2020 Spring Season, NVLL spent a significant sum of money on needed repairs around our facility. This included mandatory safety improvements to the major and junior field backstops (to meet safety code requirements), repairs to our sewage line, and a litany of other facility upgrades. We also incurred costs associated with opening the season, such as the purchase of jerseys for T-Ball, 5-Pitch, and Farm, new jerseys for the Minors division, Opening Day ceremonies, and stocking the Snack Bar. Considering those expenditures, and the fact that registration fees are the largest source of revenue for the league, we are offering as much of a refund as we are able. We must responsibly plan for the future of the league.

Again, we ask that you fill out the previously mentioned survey to indicate whether you are making a tax-deductible donation, or are requesting a partial refund of your registration fees. Once you submit the survey, we will process your donation or refund.

Uniform Deposits
We will be accepting uniform returns (jersey only) for the Minor, Major, and Junior divisions on September 5^th and 6^th according to the schedule outlined below. Players may keep their cap, socks and belt. When you return your uniform, we will either return or tear up your deposit check. Farm, 5-Pitch and T-ball divisions may keep their full uniforms.

Saturday, September 5^th and Sunday, September 6^th
(MAKE-UP DATE- Sunday, September 13^th)

Minors: 9:00AM – 10:30AM
Majors: 10:45AM – 12:15PM
Juniors: 12:30PM – 2:00PM

Snack Bar work deposit checks may be picked up from 9:00AM – 2:00PM on each day.

Please note that if you choose not to return your jersey, you will forfeit your $75 uniform deposit.

The NVLL Facility
Looking at our empty beautiful fields is heartbreaking, but we thank you for honoring our request to refrain from entering the NVLL facility. As previously mentioned, any person caught on our facility, fields, batting cages, etc. will be suspended from play for a calendar year. NVLL could lose permits for the fields if LA Parks and Recreation finds that there is unauthorized use of the fields. Please don’t be the person who puts the league in that situation. The last thing we want to do is suspend someone when we can finally get back on the fields.

We are as anxious as you are to return to play, and will do so as soon as it is deemed safe. As always, the safety and good health of our children and families remain of paramount importance. We promise we will get back on to the fields as soon as possible, and we are very much looking forward to that day.
