Dear North Venice Little League Community:

Thank you for your patience as we navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Per the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health conditions are still not yet present that would allow us to resume a regular season as we know it; however, our Board has created an experience that permits our young players to be able to get on the field and get some work in, while maintaining a level of safety that prioritizes the health and wellness of our community.

Our Board has decided to create a hybrid model that gives our players and families a “Spring Training” (Season 1), that will run from March 13 through April 10. This “Spring Training” will be practice-oriented, and allow our players a chance to get back on the field, rebuild their skills and their bodies, and get back to baseball business! Registration for Season 1 will be open for a limited time beginning on February 18, and closing on March 5. Teams will be built by our Division Coordinators and Board Members, and will reflect an even playing field as much as possible. The fee for season 1 will be $100, and players will receive a jersey and a cap.

All divisions are open to play. Please note that the opening of play is contingent upon the volume of registration and enrollment in each division, and refunds may be offered only in the event that a division does not become open to play due to low registration. Otherwise, the registration fee will be nonrefundable.

Season 2, which would be scheduled to begin on April 17, would look more like a “regular” season of baseball, with our players getting back to competition in a safe and healthy manner. Details for Season 2 are still being worked out, and may involve a draft (for upper divisions) and an additional registration fee (which will permit us to have umpires on the field).

All of this is, of course, contingent upon public health conditions being in a place where we can safely operate. We will closely monitor these conditions, and will keep our community informed.

This season will look different from every other season we’ve ever had. Our players will be wearing masks, there will be no Snack Bar, no Opening Ceremony…. it will be very different. We will be reaching out to our community regarding future fundraising events as we seek to recoup some of the revenue we are losing out on due to the closure of the snack bar.
