Spring Player Evaluations UPDATED

Evaluation Day is upon us! This is always one of the most exciting days for us at North Venice, because it signals the start of Spring baseball, and fills us with anticipation for the season to come.

This year, we are doing things a bit differently than in past years. We want to acknowledge the current public health situation, and in doing so, we are implementing several COVID-related safety measures to ensure the well-being of our entire community, and to make every effort to keep us playing baseball SAFELY on our Hilltop.

PLEASE NOTE- IF YOUR FAMILY AND/OR YOUR PLAYER TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID,  PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR PLAYERS TO EVALUATIONS. THERE WILL BE MAKEUP DATES.

Please read the following very carefully so that we can have a safe and fun evaluation day!

SCHEDULE (evaluations will start promptly at these times):
9-year-olds (and draft-eligible 8-year-olds): 9:00 AM
10-year-olds: 10:00 AM
11-year-olds: 11:00 AM
12-year-olds: 12:00 Noon

Please note that players are organized by their “League Age,” which is the age they will be as of September 1, 2022. Please see https://www.littleleague.org/play-little-league/determine-league-age/ if you have questions about your child’s league age.

We encourage all players to stretch and warmup at home if possible.

Evaluation Procedure:

  1. Drop-off: Parents will drop off their players in the NVLL parking lot, or at the Grand View gate
    1. Parents- if you plan to stick around for the evaluation we ask that you REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE so that we can keep the number of people on our site at a minimum (for COVID safety purposes)
    2. There will be VERY LIMITED parking at NVLL on this day
  2. Players will check-in at the “Check-In” table near the Major field
  3. Players will be split into three groups to rotate through the evaluation stations:
    1. Pitching/Throwing/Running (Junior Field)
    2. Hitting (Junior Batting Cages)
    3. Infield/Outfield fielding (Major Field)
  4. Each station should take 15-20 minutes. The entire evaluation process should last approximately 1 hour
  5. Parents will pick up their children in the NVLL lot or the Grand View gate

IMPORTANT SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS:

  1. Players (and all individuals on-site) MUST wear their mask (and wear it properly) for the entirety of the evaluation session
    1. A mask is worn properly by ensuring a secure fit over the mouth and nose
    2. All are encouraged to wear a surgical or N95 (or equivalent) mask. If you must wear a cloth mask, we encourage you to wear a surgical mask underneath
    3. Gaiters are not acceptable masks
  2. Players must remain sufficiently distanced from one another (as much as is possible)
  3. Players or other individuals in violation of the safety protocols in place may be asked to leave, and may be asked to rescind their registration (and be refunded).

We hope to have a smooth (AND SAFE) evaluation experience for all.

If you are not available to make Saturday’s evaluation day, there is an additional evaluation day scheduled for Sunday 1/23/21. Players in Minors, Majors, and above must be evaluated to be draft-eligible. If your player does not attend evaluations, they will not be draft-eligible, and their registration will be canceled (with league fees refunded).

Juniors players (13- and 14-year-olds will be evaluated on Saturday, January 22 on the JUNIOR field. 13-year-olds must report at 9AM, while 14-year-olds must report at 11AM.
